Part 2 - Driving Ability

As part of the driving ability test, you are required to complete an eyesight test; this is carried out in the same way as the normal driving test, i.e. by reading a vehicle's number plate. After this, you and the examiner will enter the car where the instructor will explain what is required in the test.

The examiner will expect you to show a very high level of understanding and knowledge of all aspects of driving, including:

TX Driver Training Road procedure
TX Driver Training Your knowledge about and control of your vehicle
TX Driver Training Good judgment of speed and distance of yourself and other road users
TX Driver Training Anticipation of the actions of pedestrians and other road users

You will also be required to carry out specific manoeuvres such as:

TX Driver Training An emergency stop
TX Driver Training Turning the car in the road using forward and reverse gears
TX Driver Training Reverse Parking
TX Driver Training Meeting and crossing other road users
TX Driver Training Overtaking
TX Driver Training Reversing the vehicle left/right into a limited opening
