Statistics show that each new driver is  more likely to have an accident in the first two years of driving than at any other time in their driving career.

TX Driver Training Glasgow are pleased to offer all pupils a Pass plus training course aimed at new drivers. It was designed by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) with the help of insurance companies and the driving instructor industry.A Pass Plus course builds on the skills and knowledge that you have already acquired.It will teach you how to anticipate,plan for and deal with all kinds of hazards.This will help you to become a more confident driver.

You can take a Pass Plus course at any time but it is specifically aimed at a new driver who has passed their test within a one year period. 

The pass plus course is made up of 6 Lessons about driving in different conditions: 

TX Driver Training
1) Town Driving  (E.G Glasgow City Centre)
TX Driver Training
2) Rural Roads 
TX Driver Training
3) All Weather Driving  (E.G Snow,Fog,Ice)
TX Driver Training
4&5) Motor way and Dual Carriage Way Driving ( E.G  M8 Glasgow)
TX Driver Training

6) Night Driving


Each lesson is a minimum of one hour long. Don't worry there is NO TEST at the end of the course instead your instructor will continually assess your driving. At the end of the course your instructor will complete a training report that you will sign and date to confirm that you have reached the required standard.To pass the course you need  to reach a satisfactory standard in all course modules. The added incentive is once the course is completed you will receive a certificate from the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) that may entitle you to a "Discount on your car insurance".

The Pass Plus course is a practical course and all lessons should be practical lessons.However some conditions and times of year may mean that some lessons need to be given as theory sessions.A Pass Plus course can be done in a manual or automatic car.

At present South Lanarkshire council has a grant scheme available to all newly qualified drivers who live in South Lanarkshire area.They are offering to pay £75.00 towards a Pass Plus course.To qualify for the grant you must complete at least six lessons of a Pass Plus course, live in South Lanarkshire and have passed your driving test within the last twelve months.To obtain the grant you need to apply to the road safety team before starting the course. After the grant application has been approved you will receive a voucher.On completion of the Pass Plus course return your voucher to the road safety section with a copy of your official Pass Plus Certificate,record of modules and completed evaluation form and they in turn will send you out a cheque for £75.00.The link below is for the Pass Plus grant application form.
